The idea is to incentivize competent management of the construction of the project with major focus on project performance, safety considerations, quality measures and sustainability.

Projects executed under PPP (BOT Toll, BOT Annuity, and HAM) and EPC mode of implementation can apply in this category. For the said project, the certificate of completion (provisional or final) should have been issued between July 1st, 2014 and December 30th 2022.

The criteria vary based on the type of mode of implementation. The applicant must select their mode of implementation.

The award for excellence in operation and maintenance recognizes projects with swift and smooth execution of repair works, periodic inspections, maintenance of special structures, measures taken to protect or enhance the natural environment and unparalleled quality in riding experience and perfect smoothness of pavements. Major focus areas will be adequacy of maintenance, traffic management, riding quality, signages, marking and other traffic control devices, efforts for environmental protection.

The criteria vary based on the type of pavement of the highway road. The applicant must select between rigid and flexible pavement type for their said project.

This award focuses on the efficient management of traffic and services at the toll plaza. This includes automation of toll operations and administrative services, digitization of payments, provision of emergency response facilities, green and swachh parameters.

Additionally, this category would focus on the presence of a well-defined disaster mitigation strategy, signages, pavement markings and other traffic control devices.

This category encourages innovation in construction material, technique, use of advanced machinery, geometric and structural design.

This category focuses on projects executed in tough natural terrain (high altitude, fast-flowing rivers and dense forests), complex urban landscape (densely populated, sensitive conflict and border zones).

It also takes into consideration, additional measures on environmental protection taken by the contractor/concessionaire.
